Our Law Department has immediate opening for a Third Party Liability Specialist located in Eagan, MN. This position is responsible for investigating and pursuing subrogation and workers compensation recoveries. The incumbent will independently manage subrogation and workers compensation cases including negotiating settlements within authority levels.
Specific accountabilities include:
1.Managing subrogation and workers compensation cases which includes investigating accidents, identifying sources of recovery, asserting subrogation liens, identifying and monitoring injured party's accident-related diagnoses and paid claims totals, analyzing claim data and provider billing activity to determine when treatment ceases and negotiating recoveries within authority levels.
2. Responding to complex legal arguments in writing and by telephone with plaintiff's counsel, defense counsel, third party insurers, and other parties of interest.
3. Maintaining a working knowledge of basic ERISA, state subrogation and worker's compensation laws. Conducting case and issue specific research to ensure cases are managed in accordance with laws and regulations.
Qualified candidates will have:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a business area or 4 years of experience with third party recovery, healthcare claims administration, property & casualty insurance, legal, or subrogation in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
2. An understanding of subrogation or worker's compensation principles, health insurance and/or P&C insurance is required.
3. Legal research and negotiation experience preferred.
4. Excellent organization, prioritization, customer service and communication skills are required.
Salary range: Mid 30's to Low 40's depending on experience.
